Hotel Jerome
Aspen, Colorado
Aspen's historic social hub since 1889, with the best bars in town and a short walk to the gondola.
You want to be in the middle of Aspen's social life and walk everywhere.
You need ski-in, ski-out or a big resort spa.
Hotel Jerome opened in 1889 and is still the center of Aspen's social life, with the J-Bar off the lobby, Bad Harriet in the basement of the old Aspen Times building and Prospect, listed in the Michelin Guide, for dinner. Rooms mix Victorian bones with a Western ranch look, and the courtyard and pool were redesigned in the hotel's last expansion.
I recommend it for couples and friend groups who want the town as much as the mountain, and anyone celebrating. The trade-off is that it isn't slopeside, and the bars stay lively late, so ask for a quieter room if you're a light sleeper.
Key Amenities & Experiences
J-Bar, a classic Aspen bar since 1889
Bad Harriet cocktail bar, open Wednesday to Sunday
