The Hotel Telluride is a comfortable, lodge-style hotel on the quieter side of town, a short walk to Main Street. Rooms have kitchenettes and balconies, there's a sun deck with hot tubs and outdoor saunas, and West End Bistro handles breakfast and simple dinners.
I recommend it for couples and families who want to stay in town without Mountain Village prices, and it takes dogs. The trade-off is that you'll take the shuttle or walk to the gondola, and it's an upscale lodge rather than true luxury.
