Passalacqua is an 18th-century villa that a family restored and opened as a hotel in recent years, and it quickly became one of the most awarded hotels in Europe. With only 24 suites, the service is very personal and the place feels like a private home.
The gardens step down the hillside to the lake, with fountains, terraces and quiet corners. It's best for honeymoons and milestone trips, and it books up far in advance for summer.
