Wilderness Lodge is modeled on the great national park lodges out West, with a soaring timber lobby, a huge stone fireplace and a pool fed by a man-made hot spring. It is one of the most atmospheric resorts Disney has, and it is especially nice around the holidays.
It is a strong value play for Magic Kingdom trips because rates usually come in under the monorail resorts. The trade-off is transportation: you rely on the boat to Magic Kingdom and buses everywhere else, and there is no monorail. The resort also has exterior work wrapping up in late 2026, and construction on the new Disney Lakeshore Lodge is nearby.

The stay, in detail
Rooms
Standard rooms are on the smaller side for a deluxe and most sleep four, so larger families should look at the Copper Creek villas. The rustic decor fits the lodge theme.
Pools and beach
The main pool sits in a rocky hot springs setting with a slide, and there is a small beach on Bay Lake for relaxing (no swimming).
Dining
Story Book Dining at Artist Point, Whispering Canyon Cafe, Geyser Point Bar & Grill, Roaring Fork for quick service and Territory Lounge.
