Riverfront cabins on a restored brickyard, with real character and a big outdoor feel.

A former brickyard right on the Hudson in Kingston, now private riverfront cabins plus rooms in the restored 1873 Edgewood Mansion. It's open year-round, with the outdoor River Pavilion running through mid October and Aster, a French steakhouse inside Edgewood, taking over for the colder months.

I like it for couples who want river views and a bit of design without resort prices. The trade-off is that it's also a busy wedding and events venue, so weekends can feel less private, and there's no pool or full spa.
