Cabins, a links-style golf course and a real spa: the most complete resort stay in the valley.

A 220-acre property at the foot of the Shawangunks with minimalist cabins and farmhouse rooms set around a reconfigured nine-hole, links-style golf course. The spa building has a sauna, a hammam with a plunge pool, a yoga room and treatment rooms, and the clubhouse restaurant looks straight out at the Catskills.

I recommend it for couples who want to stay put: slow mornings, spa time, a round of golf and dinner on property. The trade-off is that it's a drive to everything, and the cabins are the reason to come, so the standard rooms feel like a compromise at these prices.

The stay, in detail

Rooms

Choose between cabins (455 to 625 square feet, with king beds and mountain views) and smaller rooms in the main buildings. I steer clients to a cabin.

Pools and beach

There's an indoor pool heated year-round, an outdoor pool that closes for winter, and the full spa and bathhouse.

Dining

The INNESS restaurant in the clubhouse serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, with a bar and an outdoor dining balcony.
